01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Located in the heart of Denpasar Barat, Tahu Tek mas pur is a beloved local treasure that serves up one of Bali’s most comforting street foods: tahu tek. This humble eatery specializes in a traditional Javanese dish that combines crispy fried tofu with sliced boiled potatoes, rice cake, and a luscious peanut sauce, all sprinkled with kerupuk for that perfect crunch. The result is a delightful plate bursting with savory, slightly spicy, and nutty flavors that simply dance on the palate.

What sets Tahu Tek mas pur apart is the authentic, no-frills dining experience. With only plastic chairs and a casual sidewalk setup, you immediately feel the unpretentious charm of this place. You can even catch the owner skillfully chopping ingredients with scissors—the iconic “tek tek” sound resonating through the air, serving as a nostalgic background score that elevates the sensory journey before your first bite.

Customers rave about the balanced taste, highlighting how the peanut sauce here isn’t overly sweet, allowing each ingredient’s natural flavor to shine. The kerupuk is another standout, rare to find with such a delightful crunch and taste in Denpasar. Whether it’s a quick lunch or a light dinner, Tahu Tek mas pur offers an affordable, satisfying dish that feels like a warm embrace after a long day. Prices are incredibly budget-friendly, with portions packed full of flavor yet gentle on your wallet.

In short, if you’re craving an authentic local bite with heart and character, Tahu Tek mas pur is a go-to haven. It’s comfort food at its best—simple, flavorful, and made with evident care. Don’t be surprised to see a line of regulars eagerly waiting their turn; this spot is truly a slice of Denpasar’s culinary soul.

I think it was my second visit, bcz the first time I came here I was a bit doubtful for the dish. (Lemme tell you later). It only serves Tahu Tek, yes, fried tofu with bean sprouts, steam rice cake (tipat) and Indonesian peanut sauce. From my first visit: I only tasted their "sambal petis" (the black sauce) and garlic. After that experience I learnt to tell the seller/cashier all of my requests, so it suits my appetite. So, my second visit, all was good. The price is affordable starting from only IDR 12.000 and you may add fried egg as an extra topping. The drink menu are like iced coconut water, iced tea, kolak (if im not mistaken), mineral water as well. They have several tables indoor with fan, the place is clean and fine. They prepare the food at the front place, and it is open so ppl could enjoy to watch their menu cooked. This place is located in Diponegoro shopping complex near ex-tragia (if you're Kodya kids, you'll know it), the parking lot is available but charged, and it opens in the afternoon from 4 p.m (if im not mistaken) to 11 p.m. What makes this Tahu Tek different is maybe the peanut sauce and they add some fried little potatoes as well, it makes something new for me, especially the texture. Their service was okay, the cook listens to what the customers request, so it's a Yes for me. If you're interested to this Tahu Tek, just have a visit and try~ oh, sometimes it's packed after work time.
